Immunisation System Highlights:
- A recent EPI evaluation noted the existence of a well-trained communications team at the national level and the development of national approaches to communication and social mobilization that takes into consideration vulnerable groups.
- Under Gavi policy, two additional years in the preparatory transition phase (anticipated until 2020) were allowed due to an exceptionally high change in GNI (54%) between 2013 and 2014.
- The brain drain of the trained EPI staff from all levels federal, state and locality levels is a key implementation bottleneck for routine immunisation.
- Delayed and partial disbursements of funds, due in part to lengthy and detailed processes, present challenges for health budget execution.
